First and Last

I'm beginning the new knitting year the same way I ended the last one: with hats!  Hats are the thing these days and I am just fine with that.  These are both patterns I'd been wanting to knit up for myself for ages.  Mom knit my sister, her boyfriend and Phil each a Thorpe for Christmas out of Misti Alpaca chunky - and I nearly died.  I had to have one!  So I got some Cascade Baby Alpaca chunky in a heathered navy and some stash Full o' Sheep wool in Clementine (which I held double) and VOILA: the perfect hat to go with my navy and orange puffy winter coat.  Awesome, no?

The Butterfly Hat was one I had been eying ever since I saw Amanda's and it seemed like the perfect thing to finish off 2010.  This one used less than one skein of Malabrigo (OMG) worsted in Polar Morn.  It looks so neat and was one of the easiest patterns I've ever used (and soft???  Baby bottoms are rougher than this stuff).  I've already had requests for two more.  Hey people - I'm knitting for ME right now.  Heh heh.  Ok, twist my arm...

Cool hats or is that warm hats. Wish hats suited me! Maybe a Thorpe would keep my ears from sticking out :)
