We have enormous blue hydrangea bushes in the backyard. The ones to the right of the back porch are dark blue, the flowers to the left bright blue. They are so heavy already that the big mopheads are bending the whole plant to the ground. A little judicious pruning is in order - and if I benefit by filling the house with cheery blue blossoms, well, okay! And if I can listen to the gentle twinkling sway of the windchimes over the backdoor all the while, then I'll consider the day a success.
Last night we had supper in the park. Chicken, potato salad and blueberries under cool dark fir trees and a soft blue summer-evening sky. It was perfect.
Happy Fourth of July!
