A day at the farm

We circumvented Black Hole Thursday by turning it into a Thursday At The Farm. Ok, technically Grampa Tom doesn't live on a farm, but it's close. There were tractors to ride up the road, golf carts to drive to the fish pond, chickens to chase and a favorite enormous dog to play with.

Dad (Grampa to Owen and Aidan) has more Big Toys than anyone I know: dump truck, back hoe, bulldozer, log splitter, tractor and the list goes on. He doesn't know how to sit still. If he isn't reroofing the shop he's chasing roosters out of the chicken coop or pouring gravel on newly laid paths.

See the baby chicks mingling with the ducks? They hatched with the ducklings and think the mama duck is their mama too - do you think she'll make them learn to swim?

It wasn't long before Owen was stumbling around with fatigue. Playing all day is soooo hard, isn't it? He also helped collect eggs and lemon cucumbers from the garden with Grandma Missy and played upstairs in the toy room. Eventually he crashed on the front lawn for a little while before discovering a box of golf balls which he chased around the garden with a golf club.

Even Aidan managed a short nap, then was happy to be carried around by many arms or to swing with Mama on the porch swing. If I lived there I would never get off the porch swing. I LIVE for porch swings. I only got up when the other thing I live for was ready: flank steak!

I think we had a pretty good day, don't you?

ohh it is beautiful, I want to live there!
If I could wake up on a farm or anything close to a farm I would be in heaven. Lucky Owen getting a go on big boy's toys.

Yes! It does sound like a good day. These long, hot, days can be so hard to fill.
