Dog days revisited
It was hot today, and tomorrow will be hotter. Don't even get me started on what's predicted for Tuesday. I never had a/c until we moved to this house, but I don't know what we would do without it; probably melt. I wonder, though, if my kids are being deprived of those summer experiences I remember so vividly: standing in front of the fridge until someone yelled at us to close the door; carrying spray bottles full of ice water to mist ourselves with; we even used to put our underwear and pillowcases in the freezer before bed. Since my kids are little right now I'm grateful for the cooler option - hot temperatures are too dangerous for babies - but in years to come I hope we are able to create many summer memories just like the ones from my childhood. I mean, if your mouth isn't stained purple from popsicles and your knees aren't grass stained by the end of the day - can you really call it summer?

Nope, you really can't. But since all they have to do to get that panting-like-a-dog, and needing ice cream desperately feeling, is step out the door, I don't think that you need to worry to much about ruining their childhoods with air conditioning. Just send them outside, while you stay inside with the coolness. You already have plenty of hot memories...I mean, um. Yeah, that is pretty much what I mean. :)
