Christmas sewing

I opted to add a little sewing to my Christmas gift list this year.  This is the Apple Coasters pattern by Ayumi Takahashi from the special spring 2010 issue of Stitch (LOVE).  They don't look like much, but this project took nearly an entire Sunday back in October to complete.  I learned a lot of new techniques (I'm not much of a sewer but I'm always willing to learn) like how to make bias tape, how to sew with two colors of thread at the same time, how to use fusible fleece and several other little gems.  I also made a matching trivet (pattern from the same issue - but I didn't get a photo - darn) to put a teapot on.  This was such a fun project - I would totally make more someday.  Maybe using green fabric for a granny smith version?!  Anyway, these went to Mom so I'm glad I'll get to see them often - they really are super cute!

With all that quilting and round lines, I can imagine these took a lot of work. Rest assured that they are the bomd.
