Summer Reading

You know, as an English major at college I used to read five books a week then write a paper to go with each (five days, five books, five papers) and then on the weekend you know what I did?  Read.  For fun.  I'm surprised my eyes are still secure in my head.  Of course, back then I didn't knit - but I did paint (oh, to paint again!) nearly every day.  These days I'm lucky to get through a page - a paragraph - before something else demands my attention (whether it's children, housework, writing or knitting).  That doesn't stop me from borrowing (and renewing and re-renewing) books from the library, or occasionally buying them from Powells, thus the teetering stacks of books all around the house.  There are just so many tempting books out there; but I'll continue to sneak a paragraph or a page or a chapter when I can...happily not all my reading is interrupted though - right now a small someone wants to read "Monsters Don't Eat Broccoli" again...what are you reading this summer?

The Beverly Cleary memoirs - very interesting and entertaining - my new guest room has turned into a reading/nap room - imagine that!

Uumm... (small voice) I am reading the Twilight series again? But wait, there is justification! (All in a rush here) When I am very busy, my poor tired brain just needs a nice familiar place to rest. (voice trickles off) Someplace nice and cool... also I am reading Maddie the Harry Potter series for bedtime reading.

But before that I read "The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake" I love books. I love them.
