Fire-tastic!

We're bushed, but it was a heckuva party! I knew I couldn't go to bed without posting a few firetruck cake photos! Enjoy! (We sure did.)

I know I said there would be ladders, but I forgot them at home. Oh well! I don't think anyone cared. :) Except maybe JJ who was sent to the grocery store twice for white chocolate that didn't end up being used. Don't worry - I already have plans for the remainders. Mmmm...

These were just frozen pound cakes with an additional cake carved up for the fronts. All the icing was store bought and the candles came from the decorette shop in Tigard. I was going to make three trucks, but I decided we would be good with two; three would have been major overkill (not to mention a huge waste which would be a shame!). The headlights are red hots, the roof lights are jelly beans and the hoses are twizzlers. The chocolate icing is covered in red sugar sprinkles and the wheels are mini chocolate donuts.
All in all, I'd say it was a success. It was fun, anyway, and that's what counts!

Great job on the cakes, Erin. My mom always made super-cool cakes for my parties when I was little, and I still remember them happily.
Good job making memories for your babies!

Those are so cute, Erin! Post some pictures of the birthday boy, too, whenever you have some time.

Glad to hear you're all doing well.
