Spring green

I've been feeling a distinct need to hibernate this month, but maybe that's obvious considering the number of blankets I've finished so far?  The days lately are rainy, cold, windy - all very good reasons for hiding beneath a pile of afghans and cats on the couch.  Until yesterday, that is!  Yesterday we had SUN!  And I remembered that, despite it being January, spring really isn't that far away.  The snowdrops are up and blooming, little dainty heralds of more flowers to come.  I planted them years ago and still get a small handful each new year.  I love their dear green and white petals, delicate and hardy all at the same time.  As you can also see, the moss is out in full force atop the stone wall - but who could complain about that beautiful chartreuse color??  Even on the foggiest chilliest day (today, anyone?) it glows there in the front yard in a long unbroken curve.  A bright ribbon of spring on a gray January day.

Such lovely colors during this dreary time of year. I saw some cherry blossoms popping out of hibernation the other day. Seems a bit early, but I still love seeing it. A good reminder that we won't be cold and miserable forever.

:) Come over here for more sun than you can cope with! Gosh it is hot.
I'd take the mossy green any day!
