Another milestone

Someone else is coming into his own around here.  Aidan got his Big Boy furniture and bed over the weekend.  He's a total pro already.  I have to say I had a twinge of nostalgia as I put his clothes into his new dresser and watched JJ put together the bookcase - where does the time go?  There are days when you're pretty sure time has stopped and you're never going to stop changing diapers or walking the floor with a screaming baby, but a few years later those aren't the moments you really remember.  I remember sitting in the darkened room nursing Owen in the early hours of the morning, listening to the sounds of the neighborhood coming awake.  I remember how tiny Aidan looked in his wee footie pajamas when we first brought him home and how much I loved just carrying him around, snoozing in the crook of my arm (even then he was a good sleeper).  Now one is off at kindergarten and the other is starting preschool next week.  Me?  I'm peering into the top drawer of Aidan's dresser to finger all the hand knits he wore and remembering.

(On a side note: the quilt is the first one I ever made, before Owen was born; the little critters on the wall mark the place where the changing table was - I painted them just over the pad so the babies would have something to look at while they got their diapers changed - I just didn't have the heart to cover them up!)

You've put together a lovely room for Aidan. I'm remembering too and thinking how a little child can bring friends together. It seems so long ago now and yet just like yesterday when Aidan fitted into his wee winter onesie. Just look at him now :)
