A Tale of Two Hats

Little Things by Veera Valimaki

I LOVE this pattern.  This is the kind of thing I could make two dozen of, never mind two.  I've always admired her patterns (and will be casting on for a sweater and a shawl here in the not too distant future - hello, birthday yarn!) but in the meantime I could not have asked for a better quick project.  We get a little crazy with birthdays around here, and even though March is my month, April is Sarah's so it seemed reasonable enough to give her the first of her birthday presents early.  Heck - hats you can wear right now!  Why wait?  Since the first one turned out so well I knew I had to immediately cast on for one of my own.  We have very different coloring, Sarah and I, so I decided a darker yarn would suit me better.  This yarn is a terrific cotton/merino blend with a dark halo and though it's listed as worsted, knits up nothing like it - much more on the thinner DK side.  The green hat was knitted up in a 4 ply of cotton and cashmere (see Ravelry for complete details and modifications made to the darker hat) that I had in my stash.  My recommendation?  Go forth and knit a few of these babies - you won't be sorry.

I saw this hat in person. Very lovely! I can see why you wanted to make a second.
