Cleaning and other indoor sports

The housework had piled up to such an extreme over the week that only a Sunday cleaning marathon could hope to make a dent.  I'll spare you the gory (and sometimes REALLY icky) details but the above is my little "Lonely Sock" basket where all the singles go until they find their mates.  Sounds kind of romantic, doesn't it?

The To-Do list was MUCH longer before.  I'm happy to say I erased (among others) "Clean Owen's room" and "Sort hand-me-down clothes" - both items I had been dreading.  This is today's list and I've since crossed out groceries and am just waiting on the next load of laundry (was that the buzzer I just heard?).

It hasn't been all bad, though.  Last week I made chocolate donuts.  Now mind you, chocolate donuts are good, but chocolate donuts covered in powdered sugar are better.  My long-awaited donut pan arrived before we went on vacation and I was bummed that we hadn't had the opportunity to make them sooner.  I'm planning to make a bunch (chocolate and vanilla) for Aidan's birthday party this weekend (I know, two years old - I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one).

And I finished another pair of Toasts - just in time for the temperature to hit eighty degrees and the air to take on a humidity reminiscent of that week I spent in Mississippi in July when I was thirteen.  Oh well.  They'll come in handy at Owen's Saturday morning soccer games where the a/c is cranked to something like 10 below.
