Inside and out

My stomach is warm on the inside from eating these delicious cinnamon chip scones - oh my but these are good!  Two bites and down they go.  Not too sweet, not too heavy - like baby bear scones, they are just right.  (Click on the link for the recipe and be sure and check out her blog - it's great.)  Owen had fun helping - he poured the cinnamon chips into the batter, rolled out the dough, brushed the surface with egg wash and, of course, was an official taste tester.  We will be making these again!  The hardest part isn't even in the baking - just try finding cinnamon chips.  I double dog dare you.  Ok - actually, if you go to the Hershey's website you can use their "product finder" to track down the little buggers.  Albertsons is the only store in my neighborhood that sells them.

And on the outside my neck will be warm and snug beneath this cozy cowl.  When Mom brought the yarn home from the alpaca ranch near Roseburg I was pleased, but unsure of what to do with it - the label on the skein listed the weight but not the yardage.  Was it 100 yards?  200 yards?  Who knows!  But this pattern had been in my Ravelry queue for several months and I figured it was time to go for the gusto.  I got my cable needle out and went to work.  It knitted up quite quickly, but I held off getting buttons for about a week (silly me).  These are eco-buttons, made from recycled plastic.  Too cool and just perfect for the homespun alpaca.  The best part is I have enough left over to make a gnome baby (remember those???).  Now I'm curious to see what Mom and Sarah make with their skeins - maybe we'll match!

Also, I am really hepped up about that cowl - the color, the texture. So nice!

Thanks so much! It's really soft, slightly hairy, and totally worth it. The pattern was great - fun to do!
