Further adventures in knitting

Well, I couldn't stay away from the shawls for long, no matter how lousy my shawl mojo is right now. This is the beginning of my Multnomah mermaid shawl. The yarn really is the color of a mermaid's hair. Don't believe me? Just ask the Unicorn. If only I could get past the endless garter stitch (it's already been frogged once due to a small yet glaring error made early on) and get to the fun lace portion. The yarn is silky merino Malabrigo (omg) and is supremely squishy beneath the fingers - I love that about garter stitch: its inherit squishiness (that's a technical term, by the way).

Oh, and I went to the What Hearts concert at the Laurelthirst Pub last night - nice drumming/singing, Sarah! Had a good time even if I looked stupid standing around - my conversation skills have spiraled down the tubes since the gremlins were born. After the obligatory "You got your hair cut!" and "Is it fun to be out without the kids?" we pretty much ran out of things to say. Lame, I know. Maybe I'll have better luck with the knitting group at the library this Saturday morning. I speak knit one purl two fluently.

A cute haircut always scores points!

Conversational Skills are the first to go! The good news is... nope it doesn't get any better for a while at least. Unless you consider the relative merits of hannah montana and selena gomez to be stimulating conversational topics.

That is going to be pretty. Once the garter ends, the fun begins.
