And on and on and on. Owen took this photo through the sliding glass doors because I won't let him outside until the backyard is completely shaded. I stepped into his swimming pool to cool off and found the water so hot it was like getting cooked. Throw in a couple of diced carrots and a sliced onion and it would have been an Owen stew; so I added cold from the hose to make the water more like a tepid bath than pasta water.
It was another scorcher - and I was out in it taking Phil's dog to "doggie daycare" for the day. He was so excited to hang out with his friends, and probably spent all day complaining about the mean lady he's living with this week who won't let him chase her cats or bark in the middle of naptime. He's a nice enough dog, though, and it has been nice to have someone to eat Aidan's dropped Cheerios off the floor.
Owen has been in seventh heaven with Phil spending the week with us. They brush their teeth together, read books every night before bed, and play trains until it's cool enough to head out back to the pool. Owen has a vigilant lifeguard and I get more time to fold laundry or wash dishes. The house has been quite tidy this week - maybe I should hire Phil full-time. I know Owen wouldn't mind.

There's our solution - hire us to be nannies - we get more kid time, you get more Erin time - done deal?
As soon as I win the lottery, I'll let you know!
