April Sunshine

The first sunny, short shirt sleeve, ruffle-your-hair breezy day of April! Everyone seemed to be breathing in the spring air, huge smiles plastered on our faces - and a promise of more sun tomorrow! I can't believe we got such a beautiful weekend. It made hunting for Easter Eggs all the more pleasant. It was Owen's first hunt - he made out like a bandit. (That's Mama's knitting bag he's using, by the way; oh the sacrifices we make!)

Aidan took a long enough nap this morning that I was able to finish Sarah's pillow - and gave it to her at dinner for an early birthday present. Happy Almost-Birthday, Sarah! Glad you like it!
It was such fun to make. My first big crochet project. I will be making more of these - heck, my living room needs a few! And maybe a throw to match.

I can't believe we came to crochet and knitting so late in life - ok, I know, we're not old, but you'd think we would have picked up all of these hobbies as kids. For me the push came from having kids. Without these munchkins running around, I would still be painting; but I just can't concentrate on oils and watercolors with grubby fingers mixing up the colors when my back is turned. And yarn is so portable! Plus, having kids means knitting tiny sweaters - very quick and satisfying. They look so darling in handknits! It was only a matter of time before toys, pillows, blankets, and who knows what came along!

What joy the little ones bring to our lives. Your weekend sounds perfect and oh (sigh)the green green grass. What I would give for a piece of that.
